School Experience Programme at Three Rivers Academy
We believe that having some school experience is essential if you are considering training to be a teacher; it allows you to see the nature of the role and make sure that it is right for you before you apply or undertake your training. The Howard Partnership Trust is delighted to offer a two-day secondary school experience programme that will benefit anyone considering a career in teaching.
During your placement you will have the opportunity to:
- watch a range of lessons and age groups being taught in your specialist subject
- talk to teachers and school leaders about day-to-day school life
- find out about career opportunities within the Howard Partnership Trust
- get advice from senior and middle leaders on starting a teaching career and the different routes into teaching
Our School Experience programme is hosted by Three Rivers Academy, Bell Farm Way, Hersham, Walton-On-Thames, Surrey, KT12 5EJ. We can offer up to two days of secondary experience Maths, Science, English, MFL (French and Spanish), Drama, Art and Photography, Computing, Design & Technology, History, Geography, RS, Sociology, Psychology, Media, Business Studies and PE (inc Dance).
Availability of places is limited by faculty size. We will endeavour to book you in for a visit but cannot guarantee a place. Priority will be given to candidates who have expressed a preference for training on a programme starting in September 2024. We also reserve the right to change dates at short notice.
We charge an administrative fee of £25 for school experience visits. Once you have had confirmation of your dates, payment will be required in advance and is non-refundable.
For safeguarding reasons, all visitors should bring a current DBS certificate which must be shown to reception on the day of the visit. If you do not have a DBS, you will be escorted at all times whilst on the school premises. All visitors will need to produce photo ID on arrival (e.g. passport or driving licence).

TESTIMONIALS
"During my training at Three Rivers Academy I was amazed at the level of commitment and the overwhelming support I received during all stages of my study.
There were always opportunities to learn and practical guidance on how to improve my own teaching, backed up by colleagues with a wealth of experience,
who made me feel like I was part of the team from day one. I made lifelong connections during my training and loved it so much that I jumped at the chance
to come back here as a fully qualified teacher. I am certain that I would not be a Head of Department without the help I received from everyone involved with
the training program here at Three Rivers Academy. "
