Our Curriculum Intent

The Geography department will bring out the best by delivering a current and broad curriculum which allows students to understand the world around them from the locality of Three Rivers, the UK as a whole and the human and physical processes impacting the globe.

This will enable all our young people to develop Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to explain how the Earth’s human and physical features, at different scales, change over time and are interconnected.

Geography at Three River Academy ensures all our young people can think like a Geographer by developing empathy through real life examples; encouraging problem solving by using modern case studies and real world solutions as well as fostering geographical literacy and numeracy skills through practical fieldwork, research skills as well as analytical reading and writing.

Geography is important to support our students’ understanding of what it means to be a global citizen in our ever-changing world. We want our young people to enjoy learning about geography and gain knowledge and skills within the classroom, through fieldwork, educational visits and the world around them.
