Ofsted Report October 2024

Dear Families,

We are pleased to share with you the Ofsted Report for Three Rivers Academy following our recent inspection on 15th and 16th October.

We are delighted that all areas were judged GOOD by Ofsted:

  • Quality of education
  • Behaviour and attitudes
  • Personal development
  • Leadership and management
  • Sixth-Form provision

In highlighting the many strengths in our school, we were particularly pleased that the report recognises that ‘the school is ambitious for all pupils to achieve well’ and that ‘expert staff deliver the broad and balanced curriculum’.  The report also highlights that ‘pupils’ behaviour and attitudes are positive’, resulting in a school which is ‘calm and orderly’.

As you will be aware, the previous Ofsted inspection report in 2019 judged the school as ‘Good’, and this recent inspection recognises the hard work of staff, the Trust and the support from our community in ‘maintaining [our] resolute focus to progress’.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff, Trust colleagues and our local governors for the instrumental role they have played in our continued improvement journey.

The report is rightly a celebration of our students, including Sixth Formers. I would like to reiterate my thanks to your children who were at the heart of the process and were a credit to the school throughout the inspection, showcasing their maturity, communication skills and pride in their achievements. The report describes students as ‘happy and safe’ and mentions the ‘strong professional relationships’ between staff and students.

The report acknowledges that the school and Trust have identified the right two priorities to improve the school further. We are committed to ensuring that some inconsistencies in KS3 teaching continue to be addressed so that all students achieve the best possible outcomes in all subjects. We are also determined to continue working with families to increase the attendance of some of our most vulnerable students. We are confident that we have the expertise and capacity to address both areas highlighted in the report, thereby improving the life chances of all our students even more.

Finally, we were very pleased to hear that the Ofsted parent survey was particularly positive. The response rate was high, and we are hugely grateful for your feedback and ongoing support.

Kind regards,

Miss B Mayaire
